City of Athens, Texas
The City of Athens Utilities Departments has had a long-standing commitment to geospatial technology and was an early adopter of GIS to support operational decision-making. Halff played a key role in the early development of the City’s GIS to help establish a foundation for future asset management initiatives.
Building upon the foundation, Halff partnered with the City of Athens and Novotx to successfully implement an enterprise asset-based work order management system across multiple municipal departments. The project combined Halff’s expertise in asset management, GIS and project delivery to improve data quality, streamline operational workflows and establish a scalable foundation for long-term asset management.
Halff provided implementation support including GIS data preparation, asset inventory development, schema development, project management and workflow optimization. The team evaluated and updated GIS schemas and datasets to align with asset management requirements and data development. In addition, the team provided best-practice recommendations to support efficient business processes and user adoption.
To enable seamless integration with the Novotx Elements XS platform, Halff configured and published GIS web services and web maps, ensuring staff had access to accurate, current and reliable asset information. This integration improved visibility into municipal assets, enhanced work order management capabilities and supported more informed operational and maintenance decisions across the organization.
